Company to expand investments in strategic market segments, mission solutions, commercial partnerships and workforce development
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today its Vision, Innovation and Acceleration (VIA) strategy to further accelerate technology innovation and rapidly deliver advanced solutions for critical government missions.
VIA is the next step in the company’s technology investment strategy launched in 2023, which resulted in sustained revenue growth and $18.3 billion of new business and recompete contract awards leveraging its Digital Accelerator portfolio. The strategy also established GDIT’s leading position in artificial intelligence (AI), cyber and integrated mission technology solutions.

Building on General Dynamics’ $1.2 billion of broader capital investment in facility expansion and advanced manufacturing in 2025, the VIA strategy significantly increases GDIT’s investment in new technology capabilities, research and development labs, and workforce development. The strategy focuses on five key pillars:
Increase investment in strategic market segments. Under VIA, the company is leveraging cross-company expertise and investing in new, innovative solutions in three critical market segments: battlespace of the future, border security and smart government modernization. Through these investments, the company will empower government agencies to enhance warfighter decision-making and tactical advantage, advance real-time operations at physical and digital borders, secure critical infrastructure from adversarial threats, and improve citizen services and drive efficiencies.
Expand technology solutions. Building on its portfolio of Digital Accelerators in AI, cloud, cyber, 5G, digital engineering and quantum, GDIT is developing a suite of Mission Solutions to deliver innovative technology to the tactical edge and drive smarter government operations. The company is already applying some of these solutions governmentwide, including an advanced AI solution to counter aerial and emerging threats.
Strengthen commercial partnerships. GDIT is expanding partnerships with some of the world’s leading commercial and emerging technology companies such as AWS, Google Public Sector, ServiceNow, GitLab and IonQ. Through these partnerships, GDIT is co-building solutions, testing them in research and development labs nationwide, and then applying them in operational mission environments. Recent examples include the Mobility Guardian military exercise in the Indo-Pacific region and the Cyber Fortress exercise in Virginia. GDIT has added 40 new emerging technology companies to its portfolio and more than 60 proofs of concepts are in development.
Enhance business execution. The company is making organizational investments to further enhance business execution and accelerate continued innovation, including forming a new enterprise business office to oversee corporate development strategies and operational functions, expanding its AI, cyber and mission software Centers of Excellence and growing its Emerging Technology Program.
Build AI-empowered workforce of the future: Underpinning these efforts is a focus on creating career paths for employees through internal mobility and training programs to ensure GDIT’s workforce remains at the forefront of technology and mission delivery. Since 2023, 12,000 GDIT employees have moved internally to take advantage of new opportunities and over 9,000 employees received technical certifications in AI, cyber and other technologies. The company has also launched a new “growth gig” initiative that enables technologists to apply their expertise to projects, share knowledge and accelerate development of innovative solutions.
GDIT is making additional investments to scale AI adoption and empower employees across the enterprise. The company is using AI for internal mobility and to train employees to perform tasks more efficiently, improve cybersecurity and optimize supply chain and purchasing. Last year, GDIT upskilled more than 5,000 employees in AI.
